Nadur Youngsters vs Qala St Joseph
by Charlie Grech

Nadur Youngsters will be meeting Qala St. Joseph for the 21st time on Saturday 19th April 2003.

Nadur Youngsters registered 16 victories over Qala, compared on 1 for the latter. Both squads ended up in draw on the three other occasions. Nadur have scored a total of 35 goals against Qala, and conceded 10.

Nadur’s biggest ever victory against Qala St Joseph was registered back in October 1994 when the whites left the old Silver Jubilee Ground on the back of an impressive 5-1 win.

The only loss the Youngsters suffered against the neighbours was by two goals to one, and that took place way back in April 1992.

The game with the highest aggregate score was the 5–1 victory mentioned before.

The best goal scorer for the Nadur side against Qala is Mario Bonello with 4 goals, 2 in the league and 2 in Cup competitions.

This is the 3rd time these two sides will meet in this year’s league. Nadur Youngsters have won the first 2 games, scoring 5 goals and conceding 1.  Ironically that was the last goal Nadur keeper Kevin Vella conceded since March 1st 2003. He has, since then, kept a clean sheet in 6 consecutive matches, a total of 544 minutes since that Qala’s goal from the penalty spot.

Nadur Youngsters are coming from a series of 8 consecutive victories against Qala. While Nadur are leading the league table, Qala are already doomed to the second division.
