match report by Charlie Grech

Nadur found a very determined team in Kercem Ajax, in the Quarter Finals of the Independence Cup. The newly-promoted team gave a good account of itself and won the game thanks to a Tarik Belhai goal on the 26th minute of the game.

The Youngsters tried to attack but found a solid defense in front of them.  A. Portelli and M. Marlow saw their shots going wide on several occasions. Although it was a very physical game, the referee only handed two yellow cards, one to each side.  Nadur Youngsters had to thank goalie Falzon when he superbly saved a shot from close range by Tarik in the second half of the game. In the last minutes Nadur Youngsters attacked in force and were denied what seemed a clear penalty when a shot by C. Hili was blocked by a pair of hands (surely not Kercem's goalie S. Attard’s) from under the post.

Referee: Reno Refalo

Nadur Youngsters formation: Justin Falzon; Paul Camilleri; Mark Buttigieg; Charles Hili; Brian Portelli; Mario Bonello; Peter Buttigieg; Mark Marlow; Joseph Portelli Cauchi (Jason Grech); Anthony Portelli; Joseph Portelli.
