SPRING DAY IN EUROPE – 21st March 2003

Nadur Primary School is one of the 5501 schools registered within the European Schoolnet, who organised an event on Friday 21st March 2003 – celebrating Spring Day in Europe.

The Spring Day in Europe was developed with the EU Ministries of Education, and the European Schoolnet (EUN) is supporting schools in their endeavours, by providing the Spring Day website with ideas, tools and activities for teachers, and by building school networks.

A Year 3 teacher from Perchtoldsdorf, near Vienna, in Austria, has contacted a teacher from the Nadur Primary School, to start corresponding with a Year 3 Class pupils.

Together they decided to join in an activity for this Spring Day in Europe.

Both teachers and pupils, including the Headmistresses of each school, exchanged own profiles and information about their relative schools and towns.

They also exchanged some German and Maltese words.

All this work was exhibited in the class and some profiles and information about the town of Perchtoldsdorf were also read during the morning assembly.

For this day, children in other classes were asked to write about their experience in a European city which they visited last summer.

A report of all this was sent to the Director of the European Schoolnet, and for this activity, Nadur Primary School will be awarded a certificate.
