:: The Photographer ::

Joe ZammitJoe Zammit was born and lives in Gozo. He emigrated to Toronto in 1968, aged 18. He is married to Gozitan Rose Fenech and have two sons. He returned to Gozo in 1991.

“Actually I was never fond of still photography, I was always amazed by moving pictures. I bought my first regular 8mm in 1969 - it was called Bell. Gradually I moved to super 8mm and started experimenting with Sound films. Then came the video-boom. I started off with Sony's Beta, then moved to VHS. Next came the Super VHS with its better quality. I was fond of the Super VHS until I bought this new baby. Again called Sony and I find it amazing. My baby Sony does video and pictures in one. And that's why I take her everywhere! The days I spend roaming around Gozo to discover new corners, shapes and angles are expressed in June29th.com’s Nadur Photo Gallery. I never call myself professional because I am not. I call myself ‘the appreciator of the beautiful island of Gozo'.

:: Introduction ::

Pierre J. MejlakThrough the lens of the first camera, people saw the world in black and white. Over time, technological breakthroughs allowed artists to express themselves in vibrant color. Today, the internet has made it possible for people to keep in touch with their home-land through photo galleries. Joe Zammit's Nadur Photo Gallery aims to build a virtual bridge, in line with june29th.com's line of thought, between Nadur and its people around the world.

Triggered by june29th.com, Joe Zammit offered to spend a few days in our town and to shoot so much pictures so as to put Nadur both virtually and visually online. This Photo Gallery is the result.

Both Joe and I hope all Nadurin around the globe feel one step closer to home with the hundreds of photos posted in this gallery. New sections will be uploaded later on this year. Enjoy your visit!
