Wow indeed. Very beautiful pictuces especially the country side. Few missing things. I am surprised ir Ramla il Hamra was not included. This bay is part of Nadur regardless of who is in charge of it. Ramla will always be part of Nadur. The other thing is the paint job on the Nadur Football club. That color has to go. I hope it is temporary. It has no place in a town like Nadur. I wonder whose idea it was.

Bobby don't show the emigrants that there is nothing in your head (let alone on it). First say "prosit" as the gallery is amazing. then, go to clubs and organizations and there is a section wholly dedicated to the band with photos of the band.
is it a coincidence that no photos of the participation of the band during the good friday procession have been printed and also no picture of the band club has been printed in your updated photo archive? Or is it a case that all connection with the band has been stopped in this site.
Oh what a wonderful surprise indeed. I'm calling all my friends telling them about it. The gallery is amazing. I am still in the first section and it brings me back so many nice memories of when I used to live in Nadur. Prosit and againt thanks so much for such an initiative. God bless.

Adding to Robert's comment I urge Ghaqda Rihana to take a stand on this issue. That's the way to gain credibility by standing up and fighting for what we believe it.
Since the posting of Dar Ix Xemx, an old house in a private alley off Wied Bingemma street off Ramla Road, I have discovered that a permit is currently in place to demolish this old structure built 200 years ago. This house looks like it is in good shape. Can't our local Counsil do anything to put pressure on MEPA ro preserve this house. On top of this I have discovered that this house was bought be developers. Based on further research with MEPA, I have discovered that the permit for building two houses instead of this old house falls outside the development scheme. So I don't understand how this development was accepted. In addition, under this old farmhouse there are caves and other interesting stuff. I hope that MEPA does the right thing and pressure is put on MEPA to preserve this very beautiful structure. Maybe, the government should consider this house to be designated as museum. Such a shame for disregard of our old heritage.

I voted for EU so that Malta would have a modern government and to get rid of the same MLP / PN partisan politics. EU will help us grow, strenghten the economy and attract more European tourists. Not everyone (example the person who wrote the 12 points 'being proud to be Maltese) may be happy to be Maltese, but let me remind you, that millions of people in the world would like to be Maltese, and live in Malta, or better, in Gozo, or much much better, live in Nadur!!

I would like Malta to stay as it is now, but by joining the EU we get special benefits. To name a few the currency would be much simpler, which means that if you go to America or go to Malta and you switch your currency you'd lose less money. Every little bit helps! Other reasons include better buses. Yes finally we can sit in the bus and have air conditioning at the same time. Also, the buses would be able to transport handicapped people. Other reasons to join EU include a better security of the country and stronger special forces teams. We would be alot safer if we join EU. What is so bad about joining EU? It's actually a great accomplishment. I support EU because I understand that our country may only get better by joining it. I am not saying that MLP should change their beleifs, but to at least loosen up a little. The EU would be such a great system for Malta, too!

To All of Colin's family and friends, he phoned me this morning after travelling for over an hour to find the phone!! This is the first phone call since the war started. They have just set the phones up for the army. He is safe and well,and can't wait to get home. He says that all the danger has passed in his area and they are just securing the oil fields. He did go to Basara for one day but did not get caught up in any fights. They are all now waiting to be told when they will be returning home. He will not be in touch again for a while due to the phones being so far away, however at least we all know that he is safe.

OH my! First and formost I want to extend my apologies to Pierre and company. I cant believe how sensitive the issue of teenage drinking in GOZO really was and that a simple posting would cause such a feud. The posting was not intended for that purpose. I was just simply making a comment to another posting. I still believe we are all entitled to our opinions non the less. And regardless of ones views, each and every one should be respected. I commend JOHN for your accomplishments but please allow the policing up to the owners of this site. Sensoring profanity is one thing sensoring ones opinion is another all together. This site is the greatest thing that has come out of the Nadur community. It gives everyone an opportunity to express their wishes, thanks, condolences but first and formost it gives nadurians a place to express our educated and intellectual views on local and world matters. Please ignorance comes from those that turn their head to such matters. GOD bless USA and keep in mind that even though we may not like everyone we meet or agree with their views on certain (evidently touchy) issues we should alway respect their views.
You know what's annoying? You are! I don't know why you people think I'm someone out of this world with no facts. I'm only 14 but I'm smarter than some of you would like to know. That is why I have won the national award signed by Mr. Bush, NY State Award signed by Mr. Pataki who is the governor, NYC Department of Education for outstanding acheivement and anothe r three awards. That might also explain why I have been invited to go to Georgetown, Princeton, Standforn, and Northwestern to study in their acclaimed U.S. Foreign Affairs program but unfortunately I'm not probably going to go because it's financially impossible on my parents. If you are willing to pay 4,000 for 3 weeks not mentioning transportation I would be glad but I don't you going to do so so stop with your profanity. However, that is still a great achievement for me who migrated from Malta not knowing a single word of English and achieving that success plus being ranked # 8 in the whole freshmen class in my school out of 200.

For example, lets say we are at KU and we are having a good time with our buddies and gfs and so on. What are the chances of a fight breaking out between a drunk and you? They are much more prone to happen. Second example, lets say you are heading home from a great night out, driving and thinking about that girl you just met and than all of a sudden another guy who was out like you is driving? I could not agree with you More David. NIcely put! I just wish that people get carded before entering these establishments and if you are not of legal drinking age you should not be allowed in regardless who your parents or uncles or great uncles are. This will alow us, the responsible paying patrons to enjoy an night out without having to babysit other peoples children that are acting lets just say a bit loose because they cant handle the booze. Maybe the answer is creating a place for under 18 so that the children can play with each other and the adults can enjoy themselves.
Very interesting topic. Agree, Gozo is not New York, Moscow or London or anyother place. REally sad when we see young children drinking and acting boloh. I am over 21 and visit a lot of bars and clubs here in New York and thank god I don't see children in those places. Young people under 21 let alone under 18 do not belong in these places of entertainment. And to the individual who said that they know how to have fun, especially the young ladies, I say what. How do you explain all the young women who get pregnant and then get married by 18 - 21 or younger, and then they are misearble. Is that what our young women want. I don't think so. They give up their youth too early.
All I can say is Nadur you`ve got a good thing going on, you`ve got boys that have skill. One thing that I don`t like is the shouting at the players and swearing... I agree with teenagers having fun, but excuse-me, laws are done by our High Authorities, and it's them who have to re-enforce them, not the parents, or Sedqa, or Arciprieti u qassisin. What's the use of Sedqa, parents, and priests doing all their efforts by mouth and media, and then the business centres keep accumiliting profits??

Gozitania in NY, you don't really hang out in clubs and bars because if you do, you do not see young people like you in bars and clubs. And that is a fact. I am sure the young have their own places to hang out, but it sure aint where the grown-up hang out.

Apples, I have a feeling you didn't write your comment correctly. Underage drinking laws and now smoking laws in bars and clubs are enforced big time. Try New York City. This actually is good because we don't have to deal with underage kids. If Malta wants put laws in place, they can too. But I believe parents do not care enough. If they did they will put pressure on the government and the authorities.

There is no possible way to pass a law against underage drinking and enforce it in ny, i really do not think it is possible in malta. The main reason, it's basically a tradition in malta and teens will get there hands on it one way or the other. The only thing i can see happening and actually being enforced is a strict age limit in clubs, i dont think it would even work in some bars. By the way, anybody that grew up in malta is probably lieing if they say that he/she never had a few drinks by the age 15
I agree with all about placing a law on teenage drinking in Malta and Gozo. It has always been that way as long as I remember and should be changed just like it is in the states. It all has to do with a few money hungry business men paying off to allow underage patrons to enter and drink at their establishments (please note that most of these underage patrons do not work for a living) you should be ashamed of yourselves. As a community and as a mature individual it would be great to hang out and enjoy a few drinks with mature adults and not having to feel that you have just entered ROMPER room Hell. I thought I knew it all at 16 but i didnt. Stricter rules would definetely boost business and children will be safe. Alcoholism in Malta is on the rise because of the slack at the clubs not to mention rising stats of car accidents, altercations(barroom brawls), and overdoses. I think that il Kunsill tan Nadur should do it's utmost to preserve a a national treasure like Dar tax Xemx. This old house is one of the most unique places at Nadur.
I agree that the Parish Centre can be better. But a Youth Centre would be much better.

Hi. I was born and raised in the almost next door to the old house at tax-Xemx. I use to walk past it to school and go in my uncles field next to it. It a heritage to Nadur and since there is concern to demolish it, it is nice to see so many locals trying to protect it. I certainly wish that it is protected and restored. I wish to congratulate Anthony Said for making replica of this house. Lets voice our support to save the House of Tax-Xemx.
I am currently living in the New York and this city has some of the toughest rules around. Drinking age is 21 and in many cases the rules are enforced in both clubs and bars. And a 14 year will never get into those places even with a fake ID. A 14 year old will surely not look like a 21 year old. Now, there is a ban on smoking in bars which started last week. And these rules are obeyed. All it takes is a fine and threat of closure. Of course, Malta is a different story. what can I say.

I'm just responding to the messages below. I'm only 14 and when I was there last summer I was only 13 and I still entered Rook and Grotta because the bouncers and security don't give a s***. I'm like not even dress to go into Grotta and they gonna let me go in with some 'cops' at the door. That is a joke. I looled so suspicious with the colthes that I had on that I should have been on their list of suspected youth but they don't give a s***. Why than u hear about accidents on the road? That's where the problem exists. No one gives a s*** about safety but to let you know I'm smarter than that to be consumpin alcohol. I don't see anything wrong by eneting Grotta unless u r going to be drinking. We are youth and that's what youth like to do. Party besides other things. If they don't want any youths inside Grotta they should enforce a door policy like Tattingers. What about that age card? It's plain stupidity. U can just get a fake one by paying 5 lm. Grotta or Rook don' care about it's party going ppl except that they earn a buck in the end of the day. Forget this isssue, u r not gonna solve it cause we will find all means to enter n its futile for u to even try 2 stop youths for entering cause we r smarter than some of u want to realize.

Reading some comments as to why youths under 18 end up in clubs and drinking is little ridiculous. I think the law should be clear that whover sell alcohol to kids under 18 will loose their license. I also think it is up to the parents to ensure they ensure that this happens by putting pressure on our politicians. Youth under 18 should not be frequenting clubs and drinking. They have enough tiime ahead of them to do that. Once they experience all that, what is left. Again, it's up to the politicians to make the laws, the authorities to enforce them and the parents to watch their children.
I think YOUTH you are a bit right. I tend to look at the negative side without realizing efforts behind every piece of work. I know the centru people work hard so that youths attend ezercizzi. But that's the problem. As so much effort is being used and it's not fair on the trees as they supply us with oxygen. Jokes apart - I did not attend ezercizzi. I was there three years ago. There was the same preacher and found them extremely childlish and cut-off from reality. Do you remember the story of the man and woman in the "sqaq" and the man starts scrolling down??!! If you were there three years ago, you got my point. That was the last time I went to any meeting organized in Nadur. I had had enough! :-)
krapta i think you are full of crap. do you have any suggestions to what you need the youngsters to do. its easy to critisize what goes on in the centru. about the burning of the paper, you know very well how many youths were there in the church for the whole week and they werent only from nadur but from all gozo. i guess you didnt learn anything there. so give some credit to the organisers and stop looking always on the negative side of life
Dear Nadur citizen. I am not saying scrap the centru or scrap that thing or another. We have all the places to work in. What we need to change is not places but mentality. Today's youths are no longer entertained by having someone lighting up a tank full of paper inside the church or by washing cars every now and then or by organizing the "throw the baloon game" four days before the feast or by having the very origianl "youth week" with talks from oasi, sedqa and support year in year out.

I am also a 'zaghzugh' and would like a decent entertaining place where I can upkeep the values I , fortunately, got from home. But at the Centru, it's impossible. Can there be something in Nadur, not patyronised by the priest ? I don't have anthing against the priest, but all of us understand there would always be certain limits when a centre, especially a youth centre is supervised by a priset; Or him, or the fellowers, always get a taboo!
It's something we need to COPY from other countries - ON GOZO, THERE STILL ISN'T AN ATTRACTIVE PLACE FOR TEENAGERS BETWEEN 13 - 18. That's why ours end up on alchohol and late in nightclubs...come on authorities - Wake up and do something. A sports centre in Nadur would be a good initiative for the young ones....let's support the Local Council for this - obviously, after the elections.

What has made this site great is that it brings many Nadurin together from all corners of the world. What made it great besides it creators is the love for our town of Nadur that I believe binds us all together above politics and all other things involved. Nadur is blessed with natural beauty - that is our valleys, beaches (inlcudig our beloved Ramla which is ours as well) and one of the most beutiful churchers (inside/out) in Malta. Also, above all else our sense of freedom and independence because as many of us know we earned it the hard way being that there are probably more Nadurin today who live outside Malta.
Sorry but this season I was not involved with the running of the Nadur Youngsters nursery. There should be someone who can help you out. Well done also to the under 16 team. Theey have just been crowned champions after beating S.K. victoria Wanderers 6-1. Hope we don't have to wait long to see their pictures on this site.

I think at this point in the Iraq-American War, we can all say to the nay sayers what American Power is all about. To all those people who have been praying for Colin Vella. Just to let you know that I have received a letter from him today - the first one he has wrote since the war started. He sounded very happy and excited in his letter and told me not to worry as he is in a very quiet place, not involved in too much fighting. He can not wait to get home but at the same time he is proud to be fighting for freedom. Thank you all agin for your kind words. I check the information that Gina provided and it seems that what she said is true. I have seen dar ix-Xemx many times. It's a beautiful old house and I was surprised to see that a development is about to take place there. I don't even think there is a road there. As people have indicated contact your local counsil or even write the planning authority (MEPA). I was always under the impression that old houses are required to be saved most towns and villages. I hope that there is an organization at Nadur that handle these type of issues to protect our heritage an environment in this day and age. Also, contact MEPA and complain. this is Mepa's email...complaints@mepa.org.mt

Today I was going through the June 29th news archive and came across The Heritage Buildings of Malta & Gozo online! [05/03/03]by Anton Said. One particular house in the collection isId-Dar tax-Xemx at the Bingemma Valley. Unfortunately, at the present time there is a permit ---00024/03 Zebbuga, Laringa, Private Alley Off, Triq Wied Bingemma, Nadur to demolish existing building - House tax xemx at Wied Bingemma -and erect basement garages and two dwellings with swimming pool. I thought that this building is covered by restrictions. I hope the Nadur Counsil is aware of this and will do it's utmost to ensure that this old house is protected and not destroyed.
I always see a lot of comments on church related matters and this topic always is a hot one. I believe that we should respect each other in our believes. If someone wants to attend church or not, it's their perogative. At the end of the day, each individual has to answer to god himself and herself, and only he (God) will be the judge and no one else. Also, it's sad that there is petty stuff that goes on regarding pagents, ballovastri, etc. I am all for having a beautiful church because it belongs to all of us. Same goes for the festa. Some may say why not give the money to the poor. However, we can do that too, but at the same time we need to enjoy both the church and the festa becuse they are part of our culture.

It was a very good victory. I believe it will be ours again. Qala and Victoria should not be of a huge obstacle. But Xewkija Tigers will surely give us a hard game and that game will mean everything. So Youngsters train hard and full concentration. I hope to be able to celebrate the Championship with you in Nadur next May.

Am i reading well? Why is the paegant not taking place? I was in it for many years and what a hit it always was.We had people coming to see us from everywhere.The church used to be packed.My mom used to sit in church and hold seats for hours.No profit is ever made from it only hard work and dedication.The life of christ himself is what is represented in the pageant and in the most classy way only nadurin can put on at best.Keep the tradition a play like that here could easily cost $45 dollars to see and bad seats too.Another good thing for me and many more i am sure it kept us busy during rehersals.Dun Karm keep fighting as this is surely a good cause.It will be a loss for Nadur not to have this tradition take place.Let us know.
