I would like to congratulate Dun Raymond for the spiritual exercises he gave our youth and for the person to choose him. I have never seen the Nadur Bazilica so full of young people eager to hear the word of God.We should not try to darken this great event by worrying about some painting. What good is a painting when there are no people to live the word of God? This spiritual exercises were also transmitted over Radio Luminarja and many people overseas listened to them too. Again great job all those who made this possible.

No one is saying anything about the band. Of course they do a wonderful job. We all appreciate what the committee members and the bandisti do!! There was only one persons suggesting that the mobile antennas on top of the MBC roof could be of a health hazard as they're mega-antennas. That was all. So let's not try and create any dispute where there is no room for one. Prosit to all.
Nadur Imnarja Band is the best. We have to remember that the Bandisti from Nadur are giving precious time to serve in the great Imnarja Band. Those who criticize should realize how dedicated these man are. If they think they are better then they should join to realize the dedication these man and woman bring to the band club.

I spend Christams and new year and also I was there for the Carnival at Nadur which I never seen carnival in 33 years and i was very surprise because the carnival was one of the best in Malta and Gozo,because every one was involed Aulds Kids Band and also I seen 2 Bands came from Germany and for all this like to say Thanks to Dr.Chris Said and the team how work behined the seen to make 2003 carnival one of the best.
Now I also like to say a few words to the Nadur Younsters for a job well done what I seen when I was there I could not belive the work involed,also thanks to the players and Coach (Dewsa Ruben Lucju Joe)and also the volonters.and how about Robert and Micheal behind the bar I thank you for every thing.Now also I like to say to the players to keep it up for the next game aginst Zebbug and I wish I was going to be there but I can't I wish the players all the best and also good luck to my son Emmanuels Muscat.

I would not rule the possibility of a health hazourd of antennas out as we have them at my job and the owner had to sign not to go after the antenna company if anything and he had to get more insurance to protect himself needless to say he did it cause the money is good.
Dear Naduri, no those mobile phone antennas are no health-hazard. So many studies have been made on the impact of mobile phone antennas by WHO and even by the Malta Communications Authority. They pose no health hazard.

Prosit Local Council...that's the way a Council should work. I am not saying that Nadur is completely perfect, BUT all those who have eyes to see can admit the success our present Mayor and Councilors did and are doing.

Currently there is an application for a new cemetary at Ghajn Qasab. There are people in favor and against. Mepa recommendation is against it, but at the moment this application is still being considered. I hope all of Nadur join in to ensure that the proposed new cemetary is approved. Nadur truly needs a new cemetary to bury it's dead.

Hey Gozo people. I used to work in Gozo until 1985 in fruit and food processing. Then I left Malta and settled with my wife Kathy and daughter Christine and Solane at Salisbury (SA). San Blas is a beautiful bay but it is a real shame that people cannot swim with peace of mind. Every time things get to be done, there is an election and things slow down. Come on Gozitan and friends. Let's work together hand in hand and turn San Blas into a clean bay again. It is so wonderful.
Really like the new banner on top. The view of San Blas bay brought back lots of memories. I used to go swimming there when I was just 7 years old with my late Nannu Guzeppi. Very nice memories indeed.

As all of you have seen in the last of couple of days the guestbook has gotten out of hand. I didn't help the situation by adding my comments but now I and Pierre have had a talk and I suggested a couple of thing like a guestbook policy stating clearly that messages that don't have to do nothing with Nadur or its affairs will be deleted automatically. It's a privellage that we have someone like Pierre and Ryan who have contributed a lot of their time to make this service a success for all emmigrants without any cost. I'm glad you put your 2 cents in. Let me clarify something for you. I'm not pretending a damn thing, honey. I was blessed to have two wonderful parents from Gozo, but I was born and raised in America. CLUE: This makes me an American. citizen. After I spent some years in Gozo I was given the opportunity to renounce my citizenship in order to be a Maltese national. I declined. I have every right to be proud of this country, and thankful of the fact that my parents came here with nothing and made a success of themselves. Those Gozitans who reside in the U.S. but aren't citizens also have the right to be proud. Speaking for myself, I make it clear to people that I am a Roman Catholic from the Mediterranean. I admit that I'm a Caucasian, albeit not the kind that is historically considered "white". Just because some people consider the Maltese to be Arabs doesn't mean that we should side "against" America.

Many has been said about the sewage problem in San Blas. I hope plans work out as I would like to swim there when I am at Nadur next summer.
I was reading "Il-Hajja f'Ghawdex" this week and I wanted to point out that on Charity Day the Nadurin were the most generous parish in Gozo - with almost double the money collected from everywhere else. That is a good sign. We critize a lot. But we must also say prosit to our people for being generous.

lina i agree with what you said 100 percent. america is made of different cultures and people from around the world. in my opinion that is the reason that makes america such a great country. it gets me angry to hear somebody living in usa and say bad things about it. so many of our families made a good living there because amerrica gave them the chance to live and work there. i too was there and say GOD BLESS AMERICA from the bottom of my heart.

I surely agree with president Bush that if Saddam does not disarm peacefully, he should be disarmed by military force! Saddam is a threat to the world and more especially to many Nadurin living in the US! We should not symphatize with the United States only in circumstances such as September 11, but even when her soldiers have to leave such a grateful land, to save the whole world! Pierre and Ryan have Nadur at heart and they are carrying the tradition of their grandfather who loved the feast of St. Peter and Paul so much. I use to admire him for that. Our traditions is what brings us Maltese together. The carnival, l-Imnarja and especially the warm summers is what keeps us going. We have had snow almost everyday this winter.

As a Naduri American, I resent having someone like David Camilleri having his say on teh Nadur News Section. AS the individual knows, there are many Maltese Americans who support the president on this issue. And living in New York, we know that the danger of another attack on New York is still there. I say there will never be peace until those radical muslim countries stop their hate mongering. Sometimes, it takes a war to make things right. And this is probably one of those times.
I just have to say one thing about the upcoming war. Despite its bad points, America is a great country- I mean, how many of you out there made your fortune here? Probably quite a few.
There is a lot of anti-American sentiment among European countries and even among local Maltese- most of it is jealousy from people who know nothing about the US and are jealous of our wealth. No country is perfect.The Maltese government wasn't complaining back in the 70's when it used to pay the tickets to Australia in order to get rid of some of the Gozitan youth, and this gave the locals a chance to thrive in those difficult times. I'm sure that the oil is a driving factor, but so be it. Equally guilty are those nations who oppose the war solely because they have business contracts with Iraq. At the end of the day, its all about the dough.

Although I do not agree 100% with your views, it was very nice for a Naduri emigrant like me to see a veteran Canadian journalist interviewing one from Nadur about Malta and its affairs. This James Azzopardi seems to have quite a talent. His statues seem to be almost real. One could immagine hearing them speak or would expect them to move. They are so real. Personally people blow like the wind and sheep are found everywhere. Believe me I have been around long enough to have seen the best and the worst of both parties which still leaves me undecided All I do know is that most elections are bought elections What makes this one so different?
To citizen: People made the choice in gozo along with the maltese. And like everything else in life, it will not be a bed of roses. , However, being in is definitely better than being out. I think the vote should now be respected, and we also should all respect each other whatever our political leanings are. I am also of the firm belief that our politicians are still doing a disservice when they clearly lose but they claim they won. I think the EU vote proves that maltese and gozitans voted for themselves for the EU issue and not for the MLP or the PN or the alternativa. This was an issue where many of us feel strongly that we belong with Europe. Period. To try to take that away is sacrilage.

Results are in. It's 53% in favour of joining Europe.
Looks like the maltese in their majority have voted to join Europe. This is great news for maltese/gozitans and maltese/gozitan emigratns.

Naduri, I disagree with you. In Malta, the course of action taken does affect us regardless of what you are saying. So people, use your judgement and do what you think is best for Malta, whether it's yes or no. It's your right. At the end of it all, we must respect the results whether yes or no. And I hope a repeat of the nasty celebrates that occur with every maltese election do not repeat themselves. I hope that the political leaders of both parties have instructed people to behave and not taunt others during the celebrations. People can celebrate, but not taunt their neighbors. I think regardless of what some people day, this is an immature feature of ours that we have in malta and gozo. And my instinct indicate that it will happen again. I hope not, but I am not convinced until I see the opposite.

It has been over 13 years since I have been in Nadur, and seeing all the pictures brought back so many good memories of swimming at the beaches, the festa, and my dear family and wonderful friends that I made there. Just superb ...thumbs up for the magnificent statues of the martyrdom of St Peter. James did a masterpiece out of a composition of four life-like figures. Very original and may God continue to bless James with his talents. James has already shown his worth in the wonderful Last Supper statues of Muzew, the beheading of St Paul and quite an impressive list of religious works for Maltese parishes. His talents are being appreciated by one and all. Thanks June29th for showing us the pictures and could you please add a close-up of the face of St Peter! From what I have heard it is really expressive. With this the set of pictures will be complete. Congratulations to the Committee that commissioned this work. You are surely doing a wonderful service to our much loved festa and investing in the future. May God bless all those involved. James, I am always looking forward for your next artistic assignment. Why are certain people insisting that this year's carnival was a disaster? The spontaneous carnival wes a success with lots of people from Friday till Monday. On Tuesday no one turned out in December 13 street because everybody thought that there was no carnival. Nobody turned up also for the disco at Mnarja Band Club and under the tent. About the organised carnival - 4 hours of non stop entertainment with thousands of people in the square. It's true that there were only some small floats and one big float. But there were 8 or 9 dances including 2 really funny hilariious and two german bands. No other Carnival has a 4 hour show in Malta and Gozo. Nadur a small village of 4000 people can organise such a carnival with little money. It will be better to take part in both carnivals instead of criticising

Dear Peter you have exaggerated it a bit. I don't know how old are you, but I surely remember much bigger Nadur Carnivals. This years Sunday afternoon Carnival was without doubt the poorest one in the past 7 years. Very amateur floats, very very amateur costumes and quite unoriginal dances. The spontaneous show suffered a lot as well. I just mention the empty street on Monday and Tuesday, when all youths were under the tent dancing! Did the organizers (i.e. the Local Council) forgot that there is the spontaneous carnival?! I agree with what Dr Vicki Ann Cremona said.
Carnival was the poorest one in the last 5 years dear Peter. There's no doubt about it.
Karnival was tal-genn. NO WORDS CAN DESCRIBE IT. 4 all those who know how 2 have fun… WE DID IT. Others r just 2 criticise, 2 bluff and 2 exaggerate. 2 those (coz I haven’t saw them) who was ashamed coz they heard ViVa St PiEtRu PaWl and d marches… that’s normal who have the spirit in their veins. I say VSPSP and hear the marches not only in June.

Dear naduri emigrat, don't you know that even in tiny Malta, laws should be abided. There is a limit to everything, and this has nothing to do with the church. If somebody wants to act as an idiot he is free to do so, so long as regulations are respected. Even in Nadur!!!!
There were a lot of good maskarati this year. Those wearing as politicans were really good and so were those two soldiers, hitler, the old woman and the man with the drip, the two old men reading the paper etc etc. They were all very good. The entertainment was a disaster though. I preferred the Broadcasters than The Tramps. And two discos on Tuesday really destroyed the final day of Carnival and organizers should be ashamed.

I visited your lovely island back in 1992 and returned in 1996 and also in 2000. Every time my family visited Gozo we enjoyed your beautiful country. I am finding this website helpful as we will be again in Gozo in 2003 - July or August. Gozo is wondeful. During our last visit we made friends with Rose and Charlie Camilleri from Nadur. I was at the Nadur Carnival on Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately I cannot be there tonight. I must say that I saw a very strong tradition. There were also very young maskarati. So, I don't think it is dying but perhaps changing a little bit with the time - like everything else. However I am very sad at what happened to me. I was wearing a soldier's army suit with a rack of bullets around the chest. I had no weapon and the Police ordered me to remove the bullet rack. That was very stupid, I think as those bullets go back to the first world war and they can hardly fit into any weapon!

John, you not only misspell, but you seem to have something wrong with your head. Now why get so emotional about a comment if you weren't crazy and try to take your frustration on this webpage. If you are against the war, Ok, it's your opinion. But there are many people who want a resolution once and for all. I am not in favor of war, but if we can get rid of someone like Saddam who everyone knows is a murderer and does use weapons like biological and chemical warfare against his own people, could you imagine what this guy would do if he has nuclear. Gavlos, I'm from ghajnsielem and I check both websites daily beacuse they are the best in Gozo. May I remind you that most Gozitan Americans are from Nadur followed by Ghajnsielem, so we are naturally pro-USA. When we see "peace lovers" like KMB and Mintoff leading any march we take that with a pinch of salt beacause when they ran the country we had anything but peace. Just as the USA destroyed Hitler in 1945 it will get rid of Saddam in 2003, now weather you and I agree with the methods to be used then that is up for discussion. Remmeber in the 30's many thought that Hitler was just a little eccentric and was not doing the things that were being reported, however soon the whole world learned the truth.

Galvos, I take offense when you say that all we do is argue. You are lying to your teeth. There are arguments, but the majority are not. And when there are arguments, they are done the right way with not much nastiness with the exception of a few. I think you are not a Naduri tht is why you don't understand our character. AS for bringing Saddam into all this, please. The guy gassed hi people left and right. What he will be getting from Bush is long overdue. Bush will be doing the world a favor long term.
to gavlos: as naduri said, we could start even discussing pollution in centra zambia or the lack or human rights in mozambique or water problems in central Asia. But this website is about Nadur and it is only natural that people discuss things related to Nadur. Dear gavlos. You are right but keep in mind the nature of the website. This is a Nadur website and people write about nadur. It does not mean there weren't Nadurin in a peace march organized in Valletta a few days ago. But this website deals with Nadur, so people are obviously expected to write about nadur, its people, its organizations, its activity etc etc.
