This site is sure a popular. From Karnival, youngsters, Kancell to a little bit of politics. Something for everyone. As long as it remains clean, we should not be worried to have ideas and disagreements shared. I think that is what makes it so great. It seems that there is something for everyone. But as for the Kancell, I think we had enough pro's and Cons, what I didn't like is someone like PP who had a direct message to some isqof. Let's keep this an internal issue. I am sure that as much as there is against the Kancell, there are those that are in favor. Now, many seem to have shared their thoughts, and it is time to move to something new.

I agree perfectly. I live in NYC and i miss nadur a lot. i visit this site everyday and check the guestbook to see any comments from friends that i know. Its not fair that you are using this space for your arguments. We are really not that interested in this issue. ok, i know it is important for some people... but i dont know why you think that everybody is that affected by this story. talk about carnival, next summer, festa, local council, 9/11, on anything... but dont keep making your argument as if it was the only thing important going on. you want to know the truth??? deep down... the majority of the people do not really give a f* about it. sorry... but if you stop and think about it you would know that its the truth.

dear john i am not sure if the money is collected or not. but the thing is why if i have the money i give it to chuch and tell them listen i have this money i want this to be made. if that particular thing is needed then its ok but the kancell what for to devide the people from the priest? they need to change the electricity wiring now and they are asking for donations. for that i know its something important to change. but now lots of people dont want to give the money for that since they say (like i say) if they have all the money to do the kancell which is not needed why they dont use that money and dont beg for more from us.
One more question then. Is il Kancell like the one at Ta Pinu. I am trying to picture what this thing really is. Now, I whether this Kancell takes place or not, I think we need to give this thing a little bit of rest and then maybe pick it up again some other time. I have a suggestion. If there are enough funds that were donated by an individual for this Kancell, then it should take place. If the funds need to be collected, then it should not take place. I have one suggestion. WHy not use the money on an old people's home at In Nadur and/or to get us a new cemetary. I think those are things that we really need at In Nadur today.

I agree Dino but if the kancell is made - then we are really in deep trouble here as Nadur Church is under the Gozo Curia and all priests when they were ordained say "I will put the Bishop as my guidance" or something like that. So if kancell is made, then, this will goes down in history as an instance when the Bishops' word was disobeyed.

yes Dino. Everyone is now persuaded that the kancell should not be made. The Gozo Curia made the icing on the cake. Now all of us, including the Curia, expects the people with the power to admit they were doing a huge mega mistake!
finally the curia made a little voice about the kancell. i just hope that the person that wrote it dont get in trouble since in nadur it seems that if you show your dissatisfation with some church matter they put you under the inquisition like in the old ages. i have to admit it was a sigh of relief that at least the curia still got some sense of what the kuncilju vatican is all about. but next step should be that they teach our church leaders about it. anyway jeremy i was impressed by your message and peter paul too. i am very grateful and when i see you in person i will surely congratulate you for being so strong in what you say. take care and stay cool

To Curious John: kancell means a division-line made of expensive iron rods and marble, which the Nadur Church is planning to install between the main altar and the rest of the church. It used to be popular during the early ages of the Church, up till the 19th century. However, the Vatican fully condemned the idea at its Second Koncilju in the sixties. Now even the Gozo Curia is condemding the idea through its official publication Il-Hajja f'Ghawdex. That is all about kancell John.
Could some please give an explanation of the Kancell is. I have never heard what this whole thing is all about. I think we need to be more informed. After that,people should attempt to come together and discuss this issue - say maybe in a forum organized by by our church authorities.

As mature and educated people, we Nadurin should be able to discuss things in a fair and calm matter. It's ok to disagree. I don't think we can deny that. The bad part arises when we start with having people throwing anti comments at other institutions. I think that this Nadur site has proved as a great example of how educated most Nadurin are by being able to comment on mostly everything. I think we have even shown a great example that this page is just a Nadur website for all Nadurin. To think of it otherwise, this site would not be as popular as it is today. It has made the year seems a month for me and for tens of my friends Nadurin in New York. So, let's appreciate what few people do voluntarily to give a service. Such people are found everywhere: Church, Museum, Band, Council and also behind this website. Please let's appreciate some more. It is not costing us a penny and we are receiving a good service. Dear Jason, I think yes, you are a bit wrong! Not really, Nadur has several streets tarmacked...and hey, the roads you mentioned, especially that to Ramla, has nothing to do with the council, as far as i am informed.
THAT HAS TO BE DONE BY THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT. I am sure that that would have been the first to be done by the council if it was his responsability.
You have to understand that although Nadur and its people all make their effort, there are still funny situations like this!! streets belonging to different sections of authority.

I keep reading how much the local counsil is doing. May I ask why in the world does Nadur has the worst streets in Gozo. Also, while at it, why is Hanaq and Ramla Road leading all the way to San Nizla tar Ramla has never been tarmaked. Let's get real. As I had already wrote in this guestbook a few months ago, I wish to suggest that the new Sports Centre incorporates one tennis court as there is a growing number of people from Nadur who love tennis and have to go to Victoria to practice their hobby. it has been a 13 months today....from when my brother has passed away...and every little second takes alot of strength to live for my family. Because although time has passed so quickly no pain has gone away, and no justice has been done for my brother. on the 3rd of december he would of been 29 yeaars old and that BASTARD that killed my brother is still around and living while my brother just lies in his grave. but i swear, even on my life that as long as i live justice will be done. i want to see that low life of a person behind bars and living in hell for the rest of his life, what he has done to a person like STEPHEN... is not something anyone will forget.Stephen was and still is ! ...a wonderful person and no one can replace him, ever. His smile was unique and in my heart and mind will live forever. one day i am sure those who really deserve to, will meet XKEJFA again.Stephen was a strong person and would of hated to see anyone upset and not living life as it should be. strength was something that STEPHEN gave me to go on.

I do not agree with extra-luxuries in the church, clubs, and other centers. Better use funds for practical necessities.
Besides, Nadur people send thousands of liri, containers to the missions, and also to several foundations in Gozo.
I think many people are not greedy, but use their money wisely.
I agree with Naduri u Kburi that Nadur is a city that donates to all necessities. We did donate for a new tabernaklu and for a new mazza. Thousands of liri were collected by the archpriest. But it is not fair that nothing was ever done.

This week we had all kinds of knockers at our doors - collecting or raffling - for parties, radio, and others.
Don't think it's fair to knock at one's door to collect anu funds; whoever wants to donate can do so at his own free will and turn up. Too much is too much!
Certain people should know better that this is the time when many families are tight with spending, so why embarass ?

Great website. I just want to say one thing though. Could the politicians stop sending their people to collect money from people door to door at our town of Nadur. Why are parties putting people in such a position to contribute money. If a party wants donations, they should make an announcement and if people want to donate they can do so. Enough intrusion in our lives by politicians of all sides. I like to hear other poeple's opinions.

To my knowledge, the permit for the new cemetary is at ghajn Qasab, on the way to Ramla or fit tela tar Ramla. Currently, there are no houses whatsoever. I had heard about ta X'hajma, but I think that the permit was not approved because it was close to some drinking water borehole. I wish someone post the real reason. This is what we need at In Nadur. We need the Council to keep us more and better informed regarding the going-ons of such critical projects.Again, let's hope that the cemetary is approved as soon as possible as many readers have indicated. Nadur needs a beautiful and bigger cemetary. This cemetary I believe will look like the one in San Lawrenz. The new one leading to id Dwejra. For such a small village, they really have a big and nice one.

I agree that those so called 'friends' of Stephen who took him to Paceville on that fateful night should make it their duty to see that his murderer gets what he deserves. Even if this means going around the limits of Maltese Law. A friend like Stephen should be remembered, and not forgotten by those who were with that fateful night. Shame on them, if they have the gaul to go out drink every night, and play poker. But cannot find the time to pursue justice for Stephen and his entire family. I hope that in time his family may heal from such a great loss
I forgot to make a last comment. I saw all the postings for the approval of the Nadur Cemetary. I know for a fact that our archpriest has been working hard to get Nadur a new cemetary. Let's hope that everyone at Nadur work closely with him, including our Nadur Council to ensure that this project is approved as soon as possible. Where in a civilized society, do we find a place like Nadur where we do not have a decent buriel ground.
Unfortunately maltese justice is unique as it always serves the interest of the criminal. Thus, justice will never be served for Stephen Sam Portelli. It is a real shame that Malta has such a corrupt justice system and people get to serve next to nothing for killing and raping or abusing children. Shame on the maltese justice system.
It has been a little over a year since our friend Stephen (xkejfa) passed away. JUSTICE HAS NOT BEEN SERVED YET! Can we all say that we have forgotten what a kind, unique friend Stephen was? Was this 'just' an accident that we are all going to slowly forget? I encourage all his 'friends' that escorted him to Paceville on that tragic night to do something, anything, to see that his cold blooded murderer is put behind bars for the rest of his miserable life. True friendship and respect does not stop after someone passes away.RIP!

I am sure Nadur Local Council will do all its best to achieve a decent cemetry area. Church authorities should cooperate and hopefully Planning Authority will approve.

I agree 100% with what is being said about the cemetary. Nadur needs a new cemetary. And we should all lend our support.
It is about time Nadur gets a new cemetary. We have been trying to buy a family plot for many many years. The current Nadur cemetary is not adequate. There was a group recently collecting a petition not to allow the cemetary permit to be approved. It in the interest of Nadur for this cemetary to be granted. Nadur needs a new and adequate cemetary for our big population. I hope that this issue will be put to rest once and for by having the Planning Authority approve this much need project.
As a Naduri, I think we do need a bigger and more decent cemetary. As a Naduri American siad, we need a place where we can also reflect. I have heard about the project and I hope that it is passed with urgency. We need a new cemetary at In Nadur there is no doubt about that.
And from most of the people I talk to, they are all in favor of this. It's a real shame that in today's malta, people of other religions get cemetaries, and such a big place like Nadur has to get one b'hafna tqnasieh.

I do agree, nadur need a bigger cemetary.I live in the US at the present time, and every summer I visit my home land.My brother and grandparents are buried in that cemetary, and when I go visited I like to spend about an hour looking at their pictures, but its so hot no shade at all.So please if you do it , do it right, plant some big trees for shade.Thank you
To all concerned Nadurins: Rumors are flying that the approval for Nadur Cemetary is in jeopardy. Nadur needs a new Cemetary, as the old one is too small for our needs. I HOPE THAT MOST NADURINS AND THE NADUR COUNCIL USE ALL THERE ENERGY TO TO SEE TO IT THAT NADUR CEMETARY IS APPROVED. THERE IS A SMALL MINORITY OF PEOPLE OF NADUR WHO DO NOT WANT THIS PROJECT TO GO FORWARD, BUT IT IS IN OUR INTEREST THAT THE PLANNING AUTHORITY APPROVES THIS PROJECT. To Youngster, the league will have 3 rounds this season so a loss for either team is not going to put it out of contention. My worry is that we are struggling to beat the small fry while the Blacks have basically blasted everybody.

Dear Lillian, i think you are being very unfair and utterly arrogant. To say that this website is always the same, is not even worthwhile to comment on! if you navigate through the webSITE (that's how it's spelled) you can see new photos every day. Perhaps it would be a good idea if all new photos end up in the gallery, but after all, we are not paying for this website. it's all voluntary work, which i'm sure takes up a lot of time.
I would like to urge the Nadurin to support the WHITES in the coming match on November 23rd against ghajnsielem. It is like a final for us guys.
