Thefts in Nadur give rise to concern [29/10/05]

The Sunday Times reported that a recent spate of thefts in some Gozitan towns and villages, including Nadur, has given rise to concern. The victims were mostly elderly people who go to church early in the morning leaving their homes unattended. Some do not file a report with the police for various reasons of their own. In Gozo theft cases usually go unsolved and people often think it is useless to go to the police. (source: The Sunday Times)

Ramla Road Remembered [14/10/05]

A Lm200,000 project to rehabilitate and resurface the road leading to Gozo's prime beach is to be launched by the Ministry for Gozo next month. The Ramla road is to be the prime beneficiary of funds allocated by the ministry for such projects. Tenders shall be issued in November and work is expected to begin in 2006. Financial estimates are currently being drawn up for the works on the road, which has been in a state of disrepair for some time. It is likely that it will be redesigned and that certain aspects of it will be changed. The work will include construction, asphalt, and new footpaths. The ministry will be working closely with service providers such as Enemalta, Maltacom, Melita Cable, Water Services Corporation and others, for all necessary works to be coordinated and carried out simultaneously.
