Nadur Youngsters champions for eight time
[20/05/06]
Nadur Youngsters obtained the point
they needed in a draw of four goals against Kercem Ajax to win the
GFA title for the eighth time in their history. Nadur reclaimed the
championship after an absence of two years. Now, they joined Sannat
Lions in second place of the all-time winners' list, two less than
top club Victoria Hotspurs. This was an all-round effort by Nadur.
They built their squad with young players from their nursery and
confirmed the experienced ones of last season Alex Simoncic, the
player-coach, and skipper Joe Camilleri. New striker Alex Ribic also
played his part with 18 goals, one less than top-scorer Ricardo
Saverino of Sannat Lions. After the match, Franco Degabriele
presented the trophies to Nadur captain Anthony Portelli in the
presence of GFA officials among the sheer joy of the supporters.
