NYFC U/16 squad wins Gozo
football championship
[28/02/05]
Nadur
Youngsters' under-16 squad was on Sunday awarded the Pepsi-Cola
Under-16 Gozo championship. The young Nadurin could have won the
2004/2005 championship without suffering a single defeat, had they
not lost their last match against SK Victoria Wanderers on Sunday.
The Youngsters were mathematically declared champions on February
20th following their victory over Kercem Ajax. Jeffrey Meilak, squad
captain, was handed the championship trophy following last Sunday's
game at the Victoria football ground. Click

Artificial turf now covers MUSEUM ground
[12/02/05]
The
football ground at the MUSUEM branch is now covered with
artificial turf. The project, fully sponsored by the outgoing Nadur
Local Council, was completed a few days ago and will be inaugurated
next Sunday, February 27th, with a five-a-side football tournament.
The tournament will raise funds for the December 26th
Asia tsunami victims. Speaking to june29th.com, Nadur Mayor Dr Chris
Said said it has been the Local Council's commitment to help all
local voluntary organisations. This is the first football pitch in

Nadur
carnival attracts record crowd [10/02/05]
This
year's Nadur
carnival, held over last weekend, attracted a record
crowd, the Local Council said. It was the weekend in which the
highest number of Maltese and tourists crossed over to Gozo to enjoy
the revelry, the Council added, citing Gozo Channel figures. Meanwhile,
the Nadur Local Council is working on the
organisation of the XXV convention of the Federation of European
Carnival Cities,
scheduled for the end of May and the beginning of June in Nadur. The
convention is attracting about 600 people - carnival organisers from
around the world - to Gozo for eight days. As part of the activity,
an organised carnival is being held on May 29 and a spontaneous
carnival on June 3 and 4.
