Nadur
Mayor meets Italian Reforms Minister [31/12/03]
Nadur
Mayor Dr Chris Said met Italy's Northern League leader Umberto Bossi
while on a private visit in Baveno, the Italian town twinned with
Nadur. The Italian Minister for Reforms told Dr
Said he is glad that a Gozitan town decided to twin with one of the
most beautiful localities in northern Italy. Dr Said and Umberto
Bossi spoke about the relations between Malta and Italy, the problem
of illegal immigrants reaching both countries and Malta's accession
to the European Union. Dr Said also presented Bossi with a Nadur
info-pack. Bossi is the leader of the most ideologically extreme
party in Italy's centre-right governing coalition.

Youngsters
to face Rovers in G.F.A. Cup final
[31/12/03]
Nadur
Youngsters and Zebbug Rovers will be contesting the final of the
G.F.A.
Cup after both registered narrow wins over opposition from Division
2 sides. Easy Line First Division League leaders Zebbug Rovers
defeated St. Lawrence Spurs 1-0, while Nadur Youngsters, who were
the losing finalists last season, managed to beat Second Division
leaders Xaghra United 1-0. Aloysius Ihebulu scored the only goal.
The G.F.A. Cup final is scheduled for March 31st. Click here

Hundreds
enjoy Grand Christmas Concert
[29/12/03]
The
hundreds of people who packed Nadur's Basilica on Christmas evening
surely enjoyed a wonderful Grand Christmas Concert by the Nadur
MUSEUM choirs and a 30-piece orchestra entrusted
to the hands of young Nadur composer Antoine Theuma. For yet another
year Mark Azzopardi directed the event. The concert, performed live,
was organised in collaboration with the Nadur Local Council and
David Gill Galleries. Click here

Youngsters
beat Ghajnsielem
[29/12/03]
Nadur
Youngsters on Sunday won three important points in the Gozo First
Division League by beating Ghajnsielem FC with two goals to
nil. This was the first defeat suffered by the blacks this season.
Mark Marlow and Anthony Portelli scored for Nadur. Click here

in another match played on Sunday, Xewkija Tigers defeated Kercem
Ajax win one goal. The
Youngsters now share the top place in the league chart with Zebbug
Rovers. The latter, however, have a game in hand.

Families
visiting Nadur to enjoy Christmas
cribs

Hundreds
of families will be visiting Nadur throughout the weekend to enjoy a
number of spectacular cribs. June29th.com went round Nadur and got
some beautiful photos of cribs and decorated houses, which we've
added to our Christmas feature. Click here
to view photos. Meanwhile, Malta's Meteorological Office said
Christmas eve this year was one of the coldest ever in December. A
maximum of 8.8 degrees was measured making this the lowest
temperature since December 1947.

so this is Christmas...
[24/12/03]
Many
Nadurin showed their respect to Baby Jesus and took part in this
year's Purcissjoni tal-Bambin (Baby Jesus procession), which
is organized annually by the Nadur MUSEUM branches. Children and
adults, together with the Mnarja Band, accompanied the statue of
Baby Jesus through the main roads of Nadur. The traditional
procession was introduced by MUSEUM-founder Dun Gorg Preca in 1921
in Hamrun. A set of photos will soon be online. Meanwhile we would
like to wish all of you, thousands of internet users, a wonderful
Christmas. May it brings happiness and lots of joy into your hearts.

Wet
and windy Christmas
[24/12/03]
Nadur
is bound to celebrate Christmas 2003 in rain, windy and cold
weather. The Nadur Weather Observatory is predicting a cold and
rainy Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
For the Christmas night, it is expected that the weather will be
rainy and windy with the temperature going down to 8 degrees
Celsius. There is also a 27% possibility of a thunderstorm. A strong
NW to N wind force 6-7 is also being expected, gusting up to 100km/h
over exposed areas and at sea. On Christmas day there will be only a
slight improvement to this wintry weather. Rain showers are still
being expected although it will be less windy.

Special
Christmas schedule on Nadur's radio
[21/12/03]
Nadur's
community radio station, Radju Luminaria, is now transmitting live
for 12 hours a day as part of a special Christmas schedule. The
voluntary radio presenters are also welcoming all Nadurin at the
radio's premises at Nadur's Basilica for an open-week. "We are
inviting our listeners to visit us and see in what way we invested
their donations," radio coordinator Fr Brian Meilak told
june29th.com. Meanwhile all Nadurin living abroad are invited
to participate in a special program to be aired on Christmas Eve
from 1830 to 1930 CET. Radju Luminaria is streaming live
on the internet all day long.

Christmas
is the time of the year when people seem to be more generous than
usual. It's the time when organizations team up to help those in
need. For the second consecutive year, june29th.com has teamed up
with the national charity telethon Istrina - to be held on Saturday
27th December. All money collected will be handed to the Community
Chest Fund, Eden Foundation, Caritas, Razzett tal-Hbiberija, Elderly
Homes, YMCA, Emigrants Commission, Chidren's Cancer Support Group,
the Millennium Chapel, Suret il-Bniedem, Daniel Delicata Memorial
Association, Daritama, Parroquia Sant Tomos Appostolo, The Ghana
Mission Foundation and the Association for Deaf Persons.
Members of the june29th.com team will also be present at the
telethon to receive calls from all those wishing to donate money.

Eight
goals balance Youngsters-Tigers clash
[13/12/03]
Nadur
Youngsters lost two important points in this Saturday's league
encounter with Xewkija Tigers. At one point the Youngsters were
leading with three goals to one but the Tigers turned the result
upside down in a five-minute raid. The Youngsters scored the
deserved equalizer towards the end of the match. Aloysius Ihebeulu
(27th), Anthony Portelli (55th), Joseph Portelli (58th) and Mark
Buttigieg (81st) scored the Youngsters' goals. Zebbug Rovers are
still leading the Gozo First Division League chart with 9 points,
followed by the Youngsters with 7 points and Ghajnsielem with 5
points. The Youngsters, however, have played an extra game. Click

Nadur
Christmas musical to be aired on TVM
[10/12/03]
The
musical produced by the Nadur MUSEUM branch last Christmas will be
transmitted on national television channel, TVM, on Christmas Day.
The musical, Tama
Li Rebhet, will be aired at 1445 CET. Meanwhile, the
MUSEUM choir - currently preparing for this year's Grand Christmas
Concert - enjoyed for the first time its new uniform. The red and
yellow gowns were designed by James Azzopardi for this year's

Zebbug
Rovers claim Noel Vassallo Cup
[08/12/03]
Zebbug
Rovers won the second edition of the Noel Vassallo Cup beating
holders Nadur Youngsters by three goals to nil.
The final match was played at the Gozo Stadium on Monday.
The Rovers opened the score late in the first half with Eboh.
Reuben Galea doubled the score a few minutes later, while Quinhione
closed the game with the third goal on the 49th minute.

Over
120 people involved in this year's Christmas Concert

The
Nadur MUSEUM branch is busy preparing for this year's Grand
Christmas Concert, to take place at the Nadur Basilica on Christmas
Day. Sixty children and youths from Nadur have been rehearsing for
the last weeks, while a 30-piece orchestra has been entrusted to the
hands of young Nadur composer Antoine Theuma.
The concert, which will be wholly performed live, is being organised
in collaboration with the Nadur Local Council and David Gill

Unique
opportunity for Nadur youths
[02/12/03]
The
Nadur Local Council is inviting six youths from Nadur to spend six
months working in one of the most luxurious hotels in Baveno. In a
letter sent to the Local Council, the owner of the Lido Palace
Hotel, Pietro Paolo d’Amico, said he is ready to offer a unique
opportunity for six young people from Nadur. The six youngsters who
will work for six months in the hotel will also be given
accommodation and a very good remuneration. Experience in catering
is not a prerequisite. All those interested to live and work in
Baveno from March to October 2004 are to contact the Local Council
by not later than December 31st.
The Lido Palace Hotel was established in 1865 and has hosted a
number of distinguished guests, including Winston Churchill during
his honeymoon in 1908, composer Richard Wagner and Queen Victoria in
1879.

Nadur
prepares itself for festive season [01/12/03]
The
fall in temperature in the last few days triggered many enthusiasts
to start building their Christmas crib. A number of Nadur
houses and clubs are already decorated with coloured light bulbs and
Christmas trees. December 13th Street and Nadur's square will be
decorated in the next few days.
Meanwhile, tens of children and youngsters are already rehearsing
for a grand Christmas Concert to be held at Nadur's Parish Church
on Christmas Day. June29th.com is currently preparing its Christmas
