September
11th: We remember [10/09/02] The
impact of September 11 will live forever in our memories. What
started as a sunny day turned out to be deadly. It was a day that
changed America and the world forever.
Nadur was
physically thousands of miles away from the hijackers' target. Yet,
our heart was with all New Yorkers, especially the Nadurin residing
in Manhattan. September 11 was certainly the worst of our times.
June29th.com got hold of the story of three Nadurin living in New
York who lived 9/11 as few of us did. Click here

Il-Qortin
tal-Magun destroyed
[05/09/02] A
substantial area of Il-Qortin tal-Magun in Nadur has been
destroyed by bird trappers. The
perpetrators entered the site with bulldozers in the last few days
and flattened the area of garigue, including rare plants, in order
to set up new trapping sites.
The bird trappers also erected two unsightly trapper huts and a large, ugly limestone
wall. "This activity was illegal and was carried out
practically overnight without any permit whatsoever and with the
typical efficiency of such underhand activities," BirdLife
(Malta) told june29th.com.
Il-Qortin
tal-Magun was one of the most biodiverse stretches of garigue in
the whole Maltese Islands, harbouring a rich flora including several
rare flowers. Nadur's Ghaqda Rihan informed Malta's
Environment and Planning Authority, which in turn sent its officials
on site and stopped the illegal activity.
