June 29th: Nadur
celebrates Mnarja
The
people of
Malta - especially those living in
Mdina and Nadur - celebrate Mnarja on June 29th. Catholics around
the world mark the feast of St Peter and St Paul, whose veneration
has its roots in the very foundations of the Church. Mnarja
is also rooted in Maltese culture and tradition. This feast has
always been considered as a special day for Maltese people,
particularly for the peasants who used to have their annual break at
this time of year and try to enjoy it to the full.
In
Gozo,
thousands of people gather in the main streets of Nadur, the island's
biggest village, to celebrate the feast of St Peter and St Paul.
