Elvis Presley has certainly left his Mark on the
world today. June29th.com is glad to give you the story of Mark Andrew Tabone -
Australia's best-acclaimed Elvis Tribute performer.
At the age of ten, in front of his Nadur-home mirror with a
broomstick for a microphone, Mark Andrew Tabone (son of ex-Mayor
Joe Tabone) began his Elvis impersonation. His life took a twist
while working as a waiter at Comino Hotel. He performed the
Presley classic "Blue Suede Shoes" and was an instant
hit with the audience! After graduation, he moved on to theatre,
modelling, drama and performing corporate shows. Today, Mark
Andrew is Australia's best-acclaimed Elvis Tribute performer.
Mark
was born in Australia in 1966 but spent his childhood in Nadur. He
started singing and playing character roles to large audiences
from an early age. Nicknamed the chameleon amongst his
friends, Mark always had a strong passion towards the greatest
entertainer of all time… Elvis! "There is something about
Elvis that is indescribable," says Mark. "I've played
quite a few characters in my time but Elvis certainly has the best
persona, oozing charisma, humour and a presence that no one has
ever equaled."
On
arrival in Australia, Mark soon established a vibrant, youthful
rock-n-roll group - the Blue Suede Dudes. With the Blue Suede
Dudes, Mark performed as the support act for the international
twister Chubby Chucker and at the opening of the refurbished
Palais Theatre in Daylesford. Appearances at city hotels and
rock-n-roll clubs were also frequent.
With his natural good looks, dark hair, captivating
smile and endless energy, Mark has a remarkable resemblance to
Elvis Presley. He also has an exceptional ability to take his
audience back to those early days in the 50’s, when Elvis
himself was on his way, changing the way America thought and felt
about music.
With
intricate and spectacular costume design, Mark recreates the
famous concerts on stage in Las Vegas keeping the music and magic
of the King of Rock and Roll alive.
Elvis Leaves His Mark Show
Mark entertains his audience by taking them back to
the early days of the fifties when Elvis was raw with moves that
earned him the name Elvis the Pelvis. In a gold lame' or black
& white Milton Bearle look suit, slicked back hair and a
guitar strapped over his shoulders, Mark walks out looking just
like the hillbilly cat, singing with endless energy songs like
Blue Suede Shoes, Got a lot of Lovin' and I Need Your love
Tonight.
The
show continues with the recreation of the 1968 Come back TV
special, where Elvis in appealing black leather, gets back to the
stage after 9 years signed to movie contracts.
Mark does a fantastic tribute to this historical
event in December 1968, showing Elvis at his prime, connecting
with his audience in a close fashion, sitting amongst them,
jamming those early numbers that would make him the greatest
entertainer of all time.
Then the second part of the show begins. The lights
are dim and the 2001 Space Odyssey theme starts. The audience now
know that within seconds, Elvis will hit the stage in a flamboyant
rhinestone and gold studded jumpsuit, walking on to a theme that
is only Elvis. Once known as Mark Andrew, now make believe Elvis,
gives endless energy singing songs like See See Rider, Burning
Love, Polk Salad Annie and many more.
Mark
also owns an extensive wardrobe of 1970's replica costumes,
including Aloha Suit, Powder Blue, Red Pinwheel, Black Matador,
Fringe, Concho and White Pinwheel.
The Nadur-Elvis
has also appeared on numerous Australian TV shows, including
“In Melbourne Tonight” and Channel 7 News. He performed his
tribute shows at Crown Palladium Crown Las Vegas, onboard the
Queen Elizabeth II Cruise Ship, the Star Cruises Virgo Singapore,
the Star Cruises Aquarius Taiwan and the Star Cruises Leo Hong
Kong. He also performed at Targa Tasmania, Tattersalls Pokie
Venues, Dallas Brooks Hall, Wrest Point Casino, Hobart, Tasmania,
Amari Watergate Hotel Bangkok and at Hard Rock Café Melbourne.
Mark was also a special guest at the Millennium New Years Eve
Conrad International Singapore and at Singapore Airlines Megatop
Golf Classic 1999.
