Nadur Youngsters 4 S.K. Victoria Wanderers 0
Sannat Ground

report by Charlie Grech

The first game of the new season for Gozo Champions Nadur Youngsters was against the 2nd Division side, SK Victoria Wanderers. As expected it was an easy one for the whites, winning 4-0 and with some more attention the score could have been even more. It took the Youngsters only six minutes to open the score when a J. (k) Portelli shot was superbly saved and Anthony Portelli was prompt to put the ball into an empty net. Nadur kept possession and were playing as if it was a practice match, though they had to wait till the 41st minute to double the score.

This time it was Charles Hili’s cross from the left, which found the goalkeeper out of place with the ball finishing in the net. The second half was a repeat of the first one with the Youngsters finding no opposition. They made their three substitutions and increased the score line on the 75th minute.  Joseph (k) Portelli met a cross from Marlow and put the ball easily behind the keeper. P. Camilleri was taken out injured and Nadur kept playing with ten players. Even with a man advantage SKVW didn’t put a shot at Nadur keeper Kevin Vella throughout the match. The Youngsters had time for the 4th goal on the 84th minute. This time it was Anthony Portelli scoring his personal second goal after rounding the goalkeeper. The Youngsters will now face the winners of the Hotspurs vs Kercem game, being played on Monday, in the Quarter Finals.
